Hypertension (high blood pressure) is often referred to as the "silent killer" because it frequently produces no obvious symptoms while steadily straining blood vessels, heart muscle, kidneys, and brain. In hilly terrains and urban centers alike, lifestyle changes, dietary sodium, and stress have increased hypertension incidence.
Regular screening remains the cornerstone of cardiovascular health. At LRM Hospital, we recommend all adults above age 25 have their blood pressure measured at least once annually, or more regularly if there is a family history of heart disease or stroke.
Simple lifestyle adjustments — such as decreasing excess dietary salt, engaging in 30 minutes of brisk daily walking, consuming fresh fruits and leafy greens, and scheduling regular consultations — significantly reduce cardiovascular risk.
